I’m Danielle, the maker behind Borden Acres located in Pauma Valley, CA. I am a 3rd generation avocado farmer’s wife, and mom to two wild boys, Milo and Maverick. We originally became interested in homemade bath products because our oldest, Milo, has had eczema and sensitive skin since birth. We tried a lot of products, but wanted to stay on the simple and natural path.  I discovered how beneficial goat’s milk is for the skin, and we already had goat’s (aka weed eaters), so the rest is history. We started with cold process soap, but now make lotions, body butters, facial care, bath soaks, and more!  We use eco-friendly packaging and all our products are hand-made and small batch.
Our story began many years ago when Mr. Borden brought home a pair of goats to help with property maintenance. Little did he know, Delores and Boris would have such a profound impact on our future and family.  When I graduated from San Diego State in 2008 with a degree in Public Administration and Minor in Economics, never in a million years did I think I would be making soap!  But as Borden Acres has grown and our use for fresh goat's milk has expanded, we’ve added many more goats to our herd. We now have Nigerian Dwarfs, Nubians, Toggenburg, and Mini-Nubians!  When I’m not in my studio, you can find us hanging with the herd, collecting eggs, and tending to the garden.

Goat’s milk products are very different. It is creamy and smooth with unique nourishing properties that make it a great ingredient to add to anything that touches your skin. Goat’s milk is known for its anti-inflammatory and anti-aging properties. It helps remove dead skin cells to reveal the new, healthy skin underneath. It’s loaded with alpha hydroxy acids (specifically, lactic acid) which helps aid in skin rejuvenation. Then it soothes irritating conditions such as acne, eczema, or rosacea. It adds vitamins, minerals, and rehydrates, leaving your skin feeling moisturized and nourished. Some vitamins include A, B1, B6, B12, C, D, and E. The high fat content in goat’s milk is extra moisturizing for dry skin and the pH is close to our natural skin pH, which allows for better penetration of moisture and nutrients. It’s important to have healthy skin!
